Home to British Airways, Terminal 5 is a shining star in Heathrow’s portfolio, winning the Skytrax ‘Best Airport Terminal’ award for the fifth time in 2016. Not only do 32.7 million passengers pass through the terminal annually, but with 37% flying for business, Terminal 5 reaches over 12 million business passengers a year.
As home of British Airways, Terminal 5 is also home to the world’s most valuable airport route. The British Airways route between Heathrow and John F. Kennedy International Airport is the highest revenue-earning airline route in the world, and the only one to earn over $1 billion annually.
Likened to a cathedral of the 21st century, the terminal’s main building, covering 265 hectares, is the largest single-span building in Britain. Terminal 5 also comprises two smaller satellite buildings, T5B and C, which combined serve just under half of T5’s audience.
